China’s top export market is the European Union. In
the year 2007, 250 USD billion worth of exports are
exported to EU. Subsequently, USA comes in 2nd with
233 USD billion worth of exports from China. This is
followed by Hong Kong having 184 USD billion worth
of exports from China. These three countries have
formed the major portion of China’s export market;
constituting to 54.3% share of China's total
exports. These statistics reflects the considerable
weight of China in the exports industry of the
above-mentioned countries. Changes in demand and
supply conditions would have a significant impact on
the economy of EU, USA and Hong Kong and vice versa.

EU from 15.3% in 2001 to 20.1% in 2007. Other trends include a significant
plummet in the proportion of exports to Hong Kong and Japan. Amount of
exports to Hong Kong (proportion of share in China’s exports) has shrunk
from 18.5% in 2001 to 15.1% in 2007. As for Japan, the drop in portion is
even greater- from 17.1% in 2001 to 8.4% in 2007. This shows that China’s
goods are gaining popularity in the EU region over the years as shown in the
rising trend. As for proportion of China’s exports to ASEAN and US markets,
the amount of share stagnates.
