Guangdong Imports and Exports
Guangdong has establishing long-term and stable
economic relationship with more than 200 countries
and regions in the world. Among all provinces and
regions in China, Guangdong holds the largest total
value of imports and exports, accounting for a third
of the nation’s total. Total value of imports and
exports of Guangdong province has surged by 5.6
times from US$ 11, 010 million in 1997 to US$ 634,
190 in 2007. Annually, Guangdong hosts the Canton
Fair which is the largest import and export fair in
China.

Guangdong’s imports have increased from US$ 55, 510
million in 1997 to US$ 264, 870 million in 2007,
representing a 4.8 time growth over a period of ten
years. Its main imports include machinery and
electronic products, high-tech products, steel,
computer and communication technology, while its
imports sources are mainly derived from Taiwan,
Japan and US.

Total value of
exports of Guangdong has up by five times from US$ 74, 540 million in 1997
to US$ 369, 320 million in 2007. Its major export products include:
electric and electronic products, computer and communication technology,
machinery and equipments while its major export markets are Hong Kong, US
and Japan. To maintain future growth and development, the government will
intensify efforts in developing new markets in Africa, ASEAN, Middle East
and South America, thus, total value of exports is expected to continue its
upward trend.
