Fuzhou demographic analysis and economy overview

 

Fuzhou is the capital and the largest city of Fujian province. Total population of Fuzhou is on a rising trend. In 2001, the population is 5.9 million. However, in 2007, the population has grown by 6.8% to 6.3 million in 2007. The total population covers a total area of 12, 000 square kilometers.

Nominal GDP of Fuzhou increases by 83.9% from 107.4 RMB to 197.5 RMB billion in 2007. Forestry, agriculture, aquaculture, and a nascent high-tech industry make up important components of Fuzhou’s GDP. It is also noted that the proportion of primary industry is on a decline while the proportion of secondary industry is rising steadily over the years. The advantageous geographic location has also brought in large amount of foreign trade. Furthermore, the constant expansion of development zones attracts increasingly number of businessmen from both home and abroad. This has also provided the additional boost to the economy.
