Nearly three-fifths of China total imports are
derived from foreign invested enterprises- this made
up the bulk to China total imports amounting to 559
RMB billion. 28% are from state-owned enterprises,
while 13% constitutes to other business types. The
proportion of foreign enterprises in China imports
has been increasing gradually over the years. In
2001, imports derived from foreign invested
enterprises constitute to 51.7% of the total imports
and there has been a rise in 7% point over the
years. On the other hand, total imports from
state-owned enterprises are on a declining trend-
from 42.5% in 2000 to 28.2% in 2007. This has also
highlighted the leading role of foreign- invested
enterprises in China’s foreign trade.
