Fujian Imports and Exports
Fujian’s total value of imports and exports has
quadrupled from US$ 18, 190 million in 1997 to US$
74, 450 million in 2007. Hong Kong is the major
import and export market of Fujian foreign trade. In
2007, the total value of import and export of Fujian
province to Hong Kong stood at US$ 3, 730 million,
among which value of exports reached US$ 3, 600
million approximately. Subsequently, by developing
the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone, opening up
of direct transport with Taiwan and upgrading of
ports in Xiamen, Quanzhou and Fuzhou, total value of
imports and exports derived from Taiwan is expected
to grow over the next period.

Total value of imports of Fujian province has
increased by threefold from US$ 7, 920 million in
1997 to US$ 24, 510 million in 2007. Fujian’s key
import goods are integrated circuits, liquid crystal
televisions, chemical raw materials and mechanical
and electrical products, while its main import
sources are derived from Japan, US, Taiwan and
Malaysia.

Total value of
exports of Fujian’s province has climbed from US$ 10, 270 million in 1997 to
US$ 49, 940 million in 2007, representing a 4.9 times growth over the years.
Its major export products include: mechanical and electrical products,
automatic data processing equipment, textiles and garments and footwear. The
province’s major export markets are US, Japan and Hong Kong.
