Hainan Imports and Exports
The establishment of Special Economic Zone in Hainan
has aided in boosting the province’s foreign trade.
Total value of imports and exports of Hainan
province has climbed from US$ 1, 930 million in 1997
to US$ 3, 510 million in 2007, representing a 1.8
times growth over the years.

Total value of imports of Hainan province has
doubled from US$ 1, 130 million in 1997 to US$ 2,
150 million in 2007. Industrial finished products
constitutes to a substantial portion of the total
imports. In 2005, import value of the industrial
finished product reached US$ 1, 262 million,
accounting for 80.4% of the total import value. The
province’s major import products include: steel,
plastic and its product, machinery and equipment and
electrical apparatus and products, while its key
import sources are mainly derived from US, Japan,
Germany and France.

Hainan province’s
total value of exports has grown by 1.7 times from US$ 800 million in 1997
to US$ 1, 360 million in 2007. Major export products consist of minerals,
natural gas, food, aquatic products, textiles and transportation equipment.
The goods are mostly exported to markets such as Hong Kong, US and Japan. In
2006, Hong Kong, US and Japan have export values of US$ 491 million, US$ 208
million and US$ 134 million respectively.
