Henan Imports and Exports
Henan is actively building an open economy,
establishing steady trade relations with more than
8, 000 business partners in 150 countries and
regions around the world. Among which, the
province’s major trading partners of the province
are US, Japan and South Korea. Total value of
exports and imports has been on a rising trend from
US$ 1, 890 million in 1997 to US$ 12, 790 million in
2007, representing a 6.8 times growth over a period
of ten years.

Henan’s total value of imports has grown from US$
610 million in 1997 to US$ 4, 410 million in 2007,
reflecting a 7.2 times increase over the years.
Major import items include: electronic parts,
chemicals, minerals and copper while, major import
sources are derived from US, Japan, Germany and
India. In 2006, the total value of imports that is
derived from Japan amounted to US$ 475 million.

Total value of
exports of Henan province has climbed from US$ 1, 280 million in 1997 to US$
8, 380 million in 2007, experiencing a 6.5 times surge over the years. Major
export products consist of aluminum, lead, machinery, textile materials and
chemical products, while major export destinations comprise of US, South
Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and India. Henan’s exports in machinery and
electrical appliances have grown significantly. In 2006, exports of
machinery and electrical appliances have surged by 45.8% to US$ 1, 400
million.
