Jiangxi demographic analysis and economy overview
Total population of Jiangxi province has grown from
41.5 million in 1997 to 43.7 million in 2007,
reflecting a 5.3% growth over a period of ten years.
There are are 38 ethnic groups in Jiangxi province,
of which the Han Chinese forms the largest group,
accounting for 99% of the province's population.
Major minority ethnic groups include the Hui, She,
Zhuang, Manchu, Miao, Mongolian, Dong etc, with the
Hui and She constituting to larger populations.

Jiangxi’s economy has been developing rapidly.
Nominal GDP of Jiangxi province has increased by 3.2
times from 171.5 RMB billion in 1997 to 550 RMB
billion in 2007. Jiangxi’s strategies are to apply
scientific outlook on development, place heavy
emphasis on innovations and opening its economy by
establishing increasing number of new businesses. In
2005, fiscal revenue has reached 42.6 RMB billion.
In 2006, total imports and exports have grown by
48.2%.

Standard of
living of the population has shown tremendous progress. Nominal GDP per
capita of Jiangxi province has tripled from 4, 1 33 RMB in 1997 to 12, 592
RMB in 2007. In 2005, the disposable income per capita of urban residents
reached 8, 600 RMB, up by 14% from 2004, while rural residents' net income
per capita is 3, 300 RMB, up 10.6% from the previous year.

manufacturing sector constitutes to 41% of the total GDP of the province.
Jiangxi’s pillar industries consists of automobile and aviation, precision
Instrument, metallurgy, pharmaceutical, electronic information and
electrical appliances, food processing, chemicals and new construction
materials industries. 32% of the GDP is derived from service industries,
while 17% is derived from agricultural sectors. Banking, insurance and real
estate are the key service industries in Jiangxi province. Grain, oil plant,
vegetable, live pig, tangerine, navel orange and freshwater fish are the
major farm products produced.

Total investments
in fixed assets of Jiangxi province has leaped from 33 RMB billion in 1997
to 330 RMB billion in 2007, reflecting a remarkable ten times increase over
a period of ten years. Investments are mainly in the manufacturing and real
estate sectors. These investments are mainly derived from Taiwan, Singapore
and Japan. The province is seeking increasing investments in infrastructure,
food products and financial services sectors, thus, bringing opportunities
for investors to invest in Jiangxi province. Nanchang- capital of Jiangxi
province has been one of the major choices of investments in Jiangxi. This
is because Nanchang has an abundant supply of manpower resources, low costs,
ample water and electricity supply and mature transport networks.
