Jilin Imports and Exports

 

Jilin has established trade relations with more than 150 countries and regions in the world. In addition, the province has hold several fairs such as China Changchun International Automobile Fair, China International Optoelectronic Expo and China Jilin- Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo to boost international trade. Total imports and exports of Jilin province has grown from US$ 1, 850 million in 1997 to US$ 10, 300 million in 2007, representing a 5.6 times increase over a period of ten years.

Jilin province’s total imports have jumped from US$ 920 million in 1997 to US$ 6, 440 million in 2007, reflecting a 7 times growth over the years. The province key imported goods include: auto parts, measuring instruments, automobiles, ores and gas engine parts with, while major import sources are derived from Germany, Japan, US, Hungary, North Korea and South Korea. Among which, imports from Germany constitutes the largest proportion to the province’s total imports, accounting for 44% of the total.

Total export value of Jilin province has quadrupled from US$ 930 million in 1997 to US$ 3, 860 million in 2007. Major export items comprise of garment and clothing, corn, steel, motor vehicles and plywood. The province’s major export destinations are Japan, Russia, US, South Korea and North Korea. In 2005, cereals and automobile spare parts are the two largest components of the province total exports, constituting to 30.7% and 23.1% to the total provincial exports respectively.
