Qinghai Imports and Exports
Qinghai province has established trade relations
with more than 60 countries and regions in the
world. Total imports and exports of Qinghai province
has been risen from US$ 130 million in 1997 to US$
610 million in 2007, representing a 4.7 times growth
over a period of ten years. State-owned enterprises
remained the main force of imports and exports in
Qinghai province; however, exports of private and
collective enterprises grew rapidly.

Total imports of Qinghai province’s has been on a
upward trend from US$ 10 million in 1997 to US$ 230
million in 2007, reflecting a 18.8 times increase
over the years. Major imports consist of aluminum
oxide, medical instruments and equipment, motor
vehicles and car chassis, while major import sources
are derived from Australia, India and Bosnia.

Qinghai’s total
exports has climbed from US$ 120 million in 1997 to US$ 390 million in 2007,
experiencing a 3.3 times growth over the years. Major exports comprise of
aluminum and rolled aluminum, silicon, yarn, and woolen fiber, while major
export destinations are Japan, US and Hong Kong. Total exports is expected
to continue its rising trend as the provincial government encourages foreign
investments in the field of exports, enacting favorable policies such as
refund of local income tax for foreign investment enterprises engaging in
foreign trade.
