Yunnan Imports and Exports
Yunnan province has established trade relations with
more than 70 countries and regions in the world.
Total value of Yunnan’s imports and exports have
grown from US$ 1, 680million in 1997 to US$ 8, 790
million in 2007, representing a 5.2 times increase
over a period of ten years. AEAN countries have
become Yunnan’s largest trading partners due to its
geographical proximity with the region. The province
is located at the far southwest of China,
neighboring Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar.

Total imports of Yunnan province have climbed from
US$ 540 million in 1997 to US$ 4, 030 million in
2007, reflecting a 7.4 times growth over the years.
Major imports comprise of minerals, machinery and
electrical appliances, electronics and
telecommunications equipment, while major import
sources are derived from Myanmar, Canada, Hong Kong,
Australia, Chile, India and Germany.

Yunnan’s total
exports have risen from US$ 1, 140 million in 1997 to US$ 2, 390 million in
2007, having a 4.2 times increase over the years. Major exported goods
consist of chemicals, non- ferrous metals, high technology products,
electromechanical products, tobacco, and agricultural products. The province
major export destinations include Myanmar, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Japan, US and
Thailand.
