Zhejiang Imports and Exports
With the province’s effective measures drawn up for
export enterprises, total value of imports and
exports of Zhejiang province has surged from US$ 14,
240 million in 1997 to US$ 176, 850 million in 2007,
reflecting a 12.4 times jump over a period of ten
years. Thus, the province has become a key player in
the arena of China’s international trade.

Zhejiang province’s total imports have leaped from
US$ 4, 160 million in 1997 to US$ 48, 580 million in
2007, representing a 11.7 times growth over the
years. Major imports consists of electrical and
mechanical products, high- technology products and
farm products, while major import sources are
derived from Japan, Taiwan and South Korea.

Total exports of
Zhejiang province have soared from US$ 10,090 million in 1997 to US$ 128,
260 million in 2007, experiencing a remarkable 12.7 times growth over the
years. The province’s main export items include: electrical and mechanical
products, textiles and garments, and high-technology products, while
Zhejiang’s key export destinations are US, Japan and Germany. Machineries
and electronic products form a substantial portion of the province’s total
export. In 2006, exports of the said products amounted to US$ 101 billion in
2006, constituting to 42% of the total provincial exports.
