China's top five importing countries or regions are Japan, EU, South Korea, ASEAN and Taiwan. Japan is the largest importing country to China with USD 115.72 billion in 2006 or 15.2% of total import value. China mainly imports products which are intensive in capital and technology from Japan. Examples would be information technology products and mechanical equipments. It imported more than USD 65.1 billion of Japanese mechanical and electrical products, which is 69% of total import volume from Japan. In addition, it imported more than USD 29.8 billion of high tech products, which is 32% of total import volume from Japan.
